Player Roles
To access a pool’s player roles, open the desired pool from the myPools page.
Player roles are then found under the [Pool Settings -> Player Roles] menu item.
Only users with administrative privileges will see this menu item
Player roles are used in conjuncton with scoring rules to determine how a player receives points during the pool.
Players receive points based on what statistics are important for a specific player role. For example, Forwards might get points for goals and assists, but none for penalty minutes.
On the other hand, an enforcer might get points for penalty minutes, but none for goals or assists.
Default roles and their corresponding scoring rules have already been created for your pool.
They are the common roles of Forward, Defenceman, Enforcer, Goalie and Team.
Where possible, these default roles are automatically assigned to players as they are picked. (ie When a forward is picked, he is automatically assigned the Forward role, a defenseman is assigned the defenseman role, etc ..)
The team role is somewhat special. It is a player role used to allow pools to select NHL teams as “players” for their team.
When NHL teams are picked, they are automatically assigned the player role of Team. The Team role uses statistics based on the team. (ie Team Wins, Team shutouts, etc …).
Aside from the default roles, you can also create your own custom roles depending on your style of pool.
