Picking Players

To assign NHL players to a poolie’s team, first open the desired pool from the myPools screen. From within the pool, NHL players can be assigned to a poolie’s team under the [Pick Players] menu option.

The administrator has the ability to enter and edit all the teams in the pool. However the administrator can also allow poolies to intitially enter their own players and then use the Pick Players screen to review what has been entered.
This can make things easier for the administrator if there are a lot of players to enter. To allow poolies to pick their own teams, ensure that the poolie lock is turned off.

Entering Players

To assign a player to a team, simply enter their name into an empty textbox in the team table. Player names are entered last name first.
As you type the players last name, a picklist will appear displaying the players available. As you type more of the player’s name, the selection of players in the list gets smaller. If you type enough letters of a players last name to eliminate all but one player in the list, this player will automatically be picked for you.

Note that NHL Team names are also in the player picklist. Armchair Pools supports the picking of NHL teams as “players” on a poolies team. NHL Teams act the same as a NHL player during a pool except that they use Team statistics (ie Team Wins, Team Shutouts) when applying their scoring rules

Editing Players

If you enter the wrong player, you can go back to the specific row and reenter the player’s name.

If you enter players in the wrong order, you can reorder them by simply selecting the row in the draft position column and dragging it to the desired position.

Duplicate Players

If the pool does not allow different poolies to have the same player on their team, players already picked will be identified in the player picklist.
They will appear crossed out in red text and you will not be able to select them

Assigning Player Roles

Assigned player roles are indicated in the player role column. The one-digit codes for all available player roles (including custom roles) are displayed and the one that is assigned to the player is highlighted in red.

As you select players for a team, their player role is automatically set to their default role. For example, if you pick a player who is a forward, he will be automatically be assigned the ‘Forward’ role.

If you do not use custom roles, you will not have to edit the player role assignments. However, if your pool uses custom roles, you can edit the player roles assigned to a player by simply clicking on the one-digit code corresponding to your custom role.
