Inviting Poolies
Sending the invitation
You can create teams for your pool by inviting other people to join your pool. Once they have accepted, a team will be created for them. To invite poolies to your pool, open the desired pool from the myPools page, then select the [Invite Poolies] menu item. Only users with administrative privileges can see this menu item.
At the invite poolies screen, simply type the email address of the person to invite into the text box and press the [Invite] button or enter key. A confirmation message will appear when the invitation has been sent.
Invitees will receive an email telling them that they have been invited to a pool. The invitation will include your name (if you have filled in your User Profile), the pool’s name, and the pool type (ie playoff pool vs regular season pool). There will also be a link to the Armchair Pools site. If the invitee is new to Armchair Pools, they will receive login information.
Accepting the Invitation
In order to accept an invitation, the person must login to Armchair Pools. Once they are logged in there will be an invitation message waiting for them on their mypools page. They simply choose accept or decline and they are done. If they choose to accept the invitation, they will immediately see the pool in their mypools page and be able to access it.
Managing Invitations
After opening the desired pool from the myPools screen, you can view the status of all you invitations under the [Add Teams] menu option. Here you will find two lists. The top list entitled ‘Poolies in your Pool’ is a list of all poolies who have accepted your invitation. You can see their names, emails and their contact information (if they have entered it into their user profile). For pools that collect an entry fee, there is an option box which allows you to track if the poolie has paid or not. This information is very useful to have in one place during the organization phase of the pool.
The second list is entitled “Poolies invited to your pool”. It lists all of the people who have been invited to your pool, but have not accepted. They will have either declined or their response is pending. The list contains the poolies name (if they have entered it into their user profile) and the poolies email address. This allows you to contact poolies and find out why they are not coming in your pool, or why they have not yet responded.
If you want to “uninvite” a specific poolie, simply use the [Delete] icon. You will be prompted to confirm the delete and then the poolie will be removed from your pool. You can “reinvite” the poolie at any time.
