Creating a Pool
If you are a new user, pools can be created directly from the home page. Simply click on the Create Pool button to start the process.
If you already have an account at Armchair Pools, you can only create a pool once you are logged in and at the mypools page. From the mypools screen, click the [Create Pool] button to start the process.
Regardless of where you started, the process is the same. You will be directed to the Create Pool screen and prompted for the following information:
Pool Name
Pick a name that describes your pool. (ie Acme Consulting NHL Office Pool, Data Services 2004 NHL Hockey Pool, etc ..). Poolies will use this name to identify the pool on their mypools page. Don’t worry if you can’t think of the best name right now, you can easily change it later under Pool Settings.
Pool Type
Select whether your pool is a regular season pool or playoff pool. You cannot change this setting once you have created your pool.
Email Address
To create a pool at Armchair Pools, you must have a user account. If you already have an account and are creating your pool from the mypools page, you will not be prompted for your email address. If you are a new user, an account will be created for you when you create your pool and your password will be sent to you at this email address. The next time you visit Armchair Pools , you will need to log into the site using your email address and password. See the Logging In section for more information on the logging in process.
Once you have filled out the required fields, confirm that you have read the terms of service and click the [Create] button.
If you are an existing user, you will see your new pool created on the mypools page. If you are a new user, you will be sent to your new pool.
Once your pool has been created, you can start managing it. Below are some tasks you may want to perform to get your pool going.
- Define how your pool will award points in the Scoring Rules section.
- Customize your pool in the Basic Settings section
- Invite your friends to your new pool in the Invite Poolies section
