Hockey season at Armchair Hockey Pools is in full swing. Thanks to everyone who signed up and helped make our first season a success. Thanks also to Aaron B., Chris F., Karl P., Gord S, and Randy F. for reporting issues they found and suggesting new features.
We appreciate all user feedback. So, if you've got something to say, feel free to post on the blog or email us at support@armchairpools.com.
Special thanks to the Dobber at
dobberhockey.com whose frank criticism helped us
remove the complexity around our invite process and help a lot of you get signed up. We'll be reworking this part of our site over the year so look for a a faster and more streamlined registration process for the playoffs.
Registration season was a lot busier than expected. I like to think it was due to my witty
30 Dirty Players series. However, it was probably mostly due to the fact that officepools.com went down for several days during the peak registration season. As the owner of a pool site, I cannot imagine anything worse than a catastrophic crash during the peak signup period so part of me feels bad for them. Of course I won't lie, the other part just appreciates the extra traffic.
And speaking of maintenance work, now that the registration rush is over Armchair Hockey Pools will begin working on some new features that will be rolled out during the regular season. Nothing major as we will not risk bringing our system down in the middle of hockey season. However, some of the changes we are looking at for the coming months are:
- Private messaging in the trash talk screen
- A quick login option for login.
- Minor improvements and tweaks to the pool standings page
- The ability to remind people on draft day that both Marian Hossa and Phil Kessel are injured, will miss a good part of the season and are not early round picks.
What? I can't be the
only one who made that mistake?
Anyway, good luck in your pools everybody. And keep watching this blog for tips and tricks about the site as well as updates on some of the special hockey pools we are sponsoring this year.
