Not known as a fighter, Samuelsson gathered his penalty minutes with dirty checks and cheapshots. He had a reputation for hitting opponents with dangerous knee-on-knee hits. This reputation was mostly attributed to the fact that he regularly did hit his opponents with dangerous knee-on-knee hits.
