The 2009/2010 Bloggers Pool hosted by Armchair Pools is officially underway. We have invited various hockey bloggers from around the internet to compete in a hockey pool and put their money where their keystrokes are. Actually, there was no entry fee. And there is no monetary prize. So you readers from the Gambling Commission can just relax - the pool is strictly for bragging rights.
So who's in contention for wining the Bloggers Pool this year?
The field is below.
Bloggin' Sherpa
If you want to keep up on what is going on in the NHL, make sure you stop by and visit
The Opiated Sherpa. He has a constant flow of NHL updates including injury announcements, contract signings, roster shakeups and anything else you need to prepare for your hockey pool. I used it extensively as I prepared for my personal pool and I would recommend putting it on your list of sites to check before heading out to your next draft. Of course, I still picked both Marian Hossa and Phil Kessel early, so while he has lots of good information, he can't fix stupid.
TLP Stinks
The guys over at
The Two Line Pass are currently sitting in last place in the Bloggers Pool. But while their hockey pool might stink, their blog does not. Check them out for edgy articles and opinions on the goings on in the NHL. I read a lot predictions over the summer, but theirs is the only website where I found a prediction for conference standings
in haiku.
NHL Snipers
Check out
the NHL Sniper's Blog if you feel like losing the evening to video highlights and images from current action in the NHL. They have them nicely laid out and you can watch them right on the page. They've got everything from
Kovalchuk's 300th to Scott Hartnell
chewing on Kris Letang's hand.
Boyled Over
Mike Chen over at
Kukla's Korner makes up team Boyled Over. Check out
Mike's blog for a steady stream of in depth articles and commentary on NHL news. For those of you who are either stinking up your pool or already counting your season winnings, Mike's
Timeline for Panic article is a must read.
The D League
Dustin of
Dustin's D League is a fan of both the Phoenix Coyotes and the Toronto Maple Leafs. But we invited him anyway. As a Canucks fan, I will be frequently visiting his site to read about teams more hapless than my own. Dustin also has articles on other NHL teams and topics like his piece on
Josh Sacco, the 4 year old who has made headlines with his re-enactment of Herb Brooks' speech to the U.S Olympic hockey team as depicted in the movie
Miracle.
Armchair Hockey Pools
And of course, yours truly is participating in the pool. I didn't pick Hossa or Kessel in this one, so I think I have a chance.
Stay tuned. I will post standings and pool commentary on a fairly regular basis.
And good luck to all the bloggers .... I hope you all finish a close second.
