We're "poolie-centric". Most hockey pool sites are centered around a pool. That is, when you log on to the site, you get access to a single pool and that's it. We don't do this. When you log into your Armchair Pools account, the site is centered around you. Your personal homepage provides a summarized list of all the pools you are participating in and you can click through this list to open the details of a specific pool. Also from your homepage, you have the ability to create new pools and manage your user profile as well as access trash talk sessions, news feeds and our blog.
We help you organize your pool. One aspect of hockey pool management that has been overlooked by traditional hockey pool sites is the process of inviting and gathering friends for your pool. Armchair Pools has made this process easier through the implementation of our poolie management tool. It allows you to send automated email invites to all your potential poolies and then keep track of these invitations so you know who is coming, who has declined, and who is still on the fence. As people accept your invitations, they are automatically given an account at our site and will immediately have access to your pool. You don't have to mess around with passwords and user accounts - it's all done for you. And better yet, no more spreadsheets and rummaging through old emails to figure out who's maybe coming to your pool.
We're clean. At the end of the day, you just need to see your pool standings. Armchair Pools has stripped away all the unnecessary statistics and built a pool standings page that is clean and simple to use. For large pools, we have a full screen display that allows users to toggle between our normal pool standings page and a bare bones, full-screen version. The full screen view provides the ability to easily view over 30 teams with over 25 players all within the space of the average computer screen.
We're on Facebook. And we have more than just some page that you can become a fan of. Although
we do have that too. Our
Facebook application integrates directly with Armchair Pools allowing you to access your pool completely from Facebook. You can send pool invitations to Facebook friends and see your pool standings directly from your Facebook profile. We use Facebook's built in messaging feature to send out notifications when something important happens in your pool (like passing your brother-in-law, winning the month, etc ..). Also, we put a new spin on Facebook's "gift giving" by allowing our Facebook users to send hip checks, facewashes and other surprises to fellow poolies.
