There aren't really a lot of dirty player in the Carolina Hurricanes history. I don't count good old Ulf since that was during the Hartford Whalers era and, well, I needed him for Pittsburgh. However, since I am a Canucks fan, there was one name that stood out as I scanned through the all time list of all-time Carolina players.
Jesse Boulerice is probably remembered in Carolina for the 10 points he contributed over his 3 seasons as a Cane. However, in Vancouver he is remembered for this vicious attack on Canucks forward, Ryan Kesler.
.
Although, it really wasn't that bad of a hit. As Trevor Linden put it
"luckily his stick broke across [Kesler's] face or it could have been a lot more serious".
While Carolina fans might argue that it was his new team, the Philadelphia Flyers that made him do it, Boulerice had a reputation before even entering the NHL. From Jeff Hicks at news.therecord.com
On April 17, 1998, Boulerice swung his stick and struck the Guelph Storm's Andrew Long on the head during an OHL playoff game. Long suffered a broken nasal cavity and broken cheekbone as a result of Boulerice's attack. He needed 20 stitches from his nose to his lip and had a blood spot on the brain.
Sorry Carolina, you get tagged with him. Jesse Boulerice is my pick for Carolina's dirtiest player ever.
As a Canes fan, “Bowl of Rice” makes me cringe. But I like the “30 Dirty Players” series! Very creative, nice job.

Thanks! I have learned a lot of hockey history surfing the net for crazy cheap shots and crosschecks.
It has been harder than I thought. There are a lot of goons out there, but trying to find the realy dirty player has been difficult. I got spoiled pulling Anaheim and Chris Pronger first.
So if you know any dirty, dirty players that you want outed, let me know …
