Boxes for the 2010 NHL playoff pool are ready

With the help of our friend the Dobber, we have finished the boxes for the 2010 playoffs.

We selected players assuming that the standings would remain as is - ie Boston and Colorado will make it, Calgary, Atlanta and the Rangers will be golfing.

However, if things change, we will replace players from teams that do not make the playoffs with players from the teams that made it in. So if you pick your players early, be sure to doublecheck your picks if the playoff picture changes

Who knows what will happen in the East!? Once it’s official, we will make any necessary box changes and let everyone know.

The West is locked up. However, in theory the Rangers could catch the Bruins in the East .. although I doubt this will happen. So in all likelihood, the boxes will not change.

Is there a easy way to print off the Pool Standings inside a Pool?

Sometimes is just easy to take a copy down to the local watering hole every once in awhile for everyone to see who’s leading who.

For now you can use the ‘Picked Player’ report. This gives you a sortable (and Excel downloadable) view of who picked what player and what points they have.

This will be ok, but not great.

This is a good idea, so we are going to build a standings report that will be good for printing out and having a pint over.

We’ll aim to have this done in the first couple of weeks of the playoffs. I’ll post here when it’s up.

How do you specify a public url?

To create a public URL, the admin needs to go to Pool Settings -> Basic Settings. There is a text box called Public URL. Just put in a unique name and hit the Save button at the bottome of the screen.

Your public URL will be http://www.armchairpools.com/public/<unique name>. The URL will be displayed on the Basic Settings screen.

We also have a type of pool called a corporate pool. It is similar to the public pool, but allows users to sign up and pick players right on the page. It’s designed for people with very large pools (fundraising, big office pools, etc ..).
