I learned today that Thomas Holmstrom was replaced by Johan Franzen on Team Sweden. A lot of people in my pool picked Holmstrom (including me) and I wanted to know whether (1) Franzen will replace Holmstrom in our pool (2) Whether we are SOL (3) Another option.

We are not going to replace Holmstrom with Franzen in the selection box, but if you are the pool admin, what happens is up to you! You could just let everyone pick another player in the box, or you could tell everyone they are SOL.

It does not really help because I think most people (including myself) picked Holmstrom because they felt that Sweden would go far (and Holmstrom is a great player). At his point, I do not see a box for Franzen. My thought was to change all of teh Holmstrom picks to Franzen because he replaced Holmstrom and that would be fairer then allowing people to pick after the games have started. Can you let me know if you will slot Franzen in round 10?

Currently, our boxes are set up so that a change to one box cannot be applied only to a single pool and must be applied to all of the box pools we support. This would potentially cause confusion so we decided to just leave Holmstrom in. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.

I guess I do not see what the confusion is. Holmstrom was apparently out on February 15th and the roster in the pool did not change to reflect that he was no longer playing or that Franzen was his replacement to indicate an extra player in the pool. What is confusing about Holmstrom ,who is not playing and will net everyone who has him ZERO points, and replacing him with Franzen, who is playing and replaced him, and has a chance to net people points because he is actually playing. How will anyone complain that they have a substitute player who can get them points since Holmstrom is not playing at all? How is that confusing in any way?

The people getting Franzen won’t be complaining, it will be the people who didn’t have a chance to get Franzen.

Hi Karen – I have confirmed with the technical team that making the change to a standard pool is easy. So if you want us to make this change, just send an email to support@armchairpools.com and we can help you out.

If you didnt do your homework and picked holmstrom and he was injured thats your fault, why are you blaming it on everyone else.

The point was Holmstrom’s name was listed in their pool b/c the pool was not write in style, they had to select based on the players listed and Franzen’s name was not added to the listed players they could pick from even after Holmstrom pulled out |
