Are you ready for your Olympic Hockey Pool? Armchair Pools has compiled a spreadsheet of all the NHL players that are (or might be) participating in the Olympics. It looks something like this:

It includes their NHL team, their national team, position, NHL goals, NHL assists and NHL games played. You can download it here

Thanks to Richard's proofreading we discovered that Alexander Ovechkin was missing from our last file. He's included in the latest one. Although, if you really need help deciding when to draft him (hint: right away) you're in trouble in your pool already.

Note that we have included bubble players like Johan Franzen and Jeff Carter so you have their info just in case.

The file includes games up to Feb 13th. We probably won't update it to include the last 6 games tonight as the extra games will not affect things that much. If you have a strong need for these extra games, let us know and we can report the file.

I’m having a few problems with some of my poolies with the box style who can’t save there team after they make all there selections. I sent a few emails to you to see what can be done.

Hi,

I think I found your emails. They landed in our spam folders by mistake. I apologize for this.

With the box pools, the ‘Save’ button only appears once all of the boxes have been selected. Since there are 20 boxe, it’s common for one or two to get missed.

So the first step is to make sure people are entering all the boxes. If they are and you still do not see the save button, post again or send an email to support@armchairpools.com. I will keep an eye on the spam folder to make sure we don’t miss you again.

I made sure that all boxes were selected when this poolie couldn’t save his team. I’m going back there again today to try it for him again. I’ll post back again tonight.

I’m here now at the poolies pc who is having the problem and I’ve made his picks for him and mad sure that all boxes are picked and it still wont give me the option to save the team. He’s using IE 8.

I’m now back at my PC with the poolie and logged in with his username and password and he can select and save his team here. Firefox 3.5.7 here. Do you think it could be a IE issue or a firewall issue at his business PC.

It could be – we have seen issues with both IE8 and office environments with other parts of the application. We will test this further on Monday when we have access to the proper test environment. In the meantime, I would suggest using your PC to finalize picks for the users having the problems.

Has anyone else out there experienced the issue mentioned in this thread? If so, please post, or send an email to support@armchairpools.com

Hi,

The Problem with is IE8 – we just found the issue a few moments ago. Our technical team is currently working on a fix and I will post when it gets fixed.

In the meantime, there is an easy workaround. Just click on the greyed out button at the bottom of the screen when you have entered all your picks. This will cause the button to become enabled and you can save your team.

Thanks a bunch for posting that list.

It will help my poolies greatly.

However, The version I am looking at is missing a certain Mr Ovechkin.

When do you think the next version will come out?

Well, we figured everyone would take him in the pool so we didn’t need him on the list …

No – it’s definitely a mistake. I will look into this tonight and fix the list. I’ll post here when it’s fixed.

How can I set a rule where I want a enforce a poolie to select only 1 player from each of the 12 teams?. ie. cannot select 2 players from Russia

At this time, we have no mechanism for enforcing your team composition (ie only 3 defense, at least a goalie, 1 player from each team, etc…). So it’s up to you to either trust your poolies or scan their teams and make sure they aren’t cheating.

A function that allows you to restrict team composition is on our list, but it will not be ready for the Olympics.

Are you guys going to be updating the boxes based on injuries that could arise (Getzlaf, Holmstrom). And also is there a deadline to fill out the boxes by? Or can they be updated until the first game..

I would love to update all the boxes so that you were picking only from players who are on the official rosters. However, it gets confusing this late is the game with regards to people who may have already picked these players.

So the boxes will remain as they are and people will be responsible for double-checking their teams and making sure they have not picked any injured players.

The administrator for your pool is in control of when the boxes get “locked”. He/she can manually lock them at any time. So, contact them to find out those details.

If you are the pool administrator, you can lock/unlock your pool using the Pool Lock setting found under the Pool Settings menu item.

If you are in the Dobber Olympic Pool, the deadline is Midnight EST on Feb 15th.
